The four methods for changing the information system one to another are:

  • Parallel
  • Direct cutover
  • Phased
  • Pilot

Parallel :- This method can operates both old and new version of a system, parallel method is best to suggest the cost of the system failure in server. During this process the old system preferably continues to operate the new system tested carefully and found no errors to operate separately. In this is method the health centers can note the details about the child visiting information before child visit for the treatment.

Direct cutover :- Direct cutover system is installed to quick to getup the operational status, and also called instant cutover. This method is easy and simple, new and old systems not operate in the parallel. This system naturally used for the new system, not replaced on older system. In CHIS older system is maintaining the child records manually, if any record lost for any reasons there is no possibility to get back.

Phased:- In phased method the system is installed and brings in to different phases required by the user. The system will operate the existing multiple systems and replace the system. Using of this method is to reduce the risk and save the time.

Pilot:- This method use to implementing the new system at the required place. This method is cheaper than parallel method. This is the grouping of parallel and direct cutover . In the CHIS the pilot method could not contain the health centre information unless they saved the details in the old system.
